chief writes 'The 2001 deer season had not been what I would call "ideal" from a weather standpoint. Except for a heavy rain on Labor Day weekend, which subsequently ruined our opening day dove hunt, the Southeast Arkansas fall had been unseasonably warm and dry. Deer season had arrived, and each time we ventured out, we didn't know if we would see deer, but we were assured that the mosquitos would eventually find us and that any physical exertion at all would result in a sweaty hunting shirt.
